Reader's and Writer's Workshop-Text Evidence

Our focus this week is using text evidence in our reader responses. Text evidence is proof from the text or story that helps us prove a point. While reading our biographies, we proved that our famous person had a certain character trait. Next, we will relate this same skill to our independent reading books. to prove or explain something in our writing.  This "text evidence language" below is a great reference for discussing books with your child. Using this language when discussing a story helps get them in the habit of using this same language when they write!
